This is a collection of early tracks from The Discarded Instrument. I'm releasing these to showcase the process of creating them, and so that people can see just how much iteration the album went through throughout its year-long creation.
The Discarded Instrument had four distinct "eras" of production:
1. The Sibelius Renders, which were my initial versions straight out of notating them in Sibelius. These are those versions.
2. The "Mock Masters" which were my placeholder versions using EastWest's Steinway piano VST. These versions were made while I was acquiring a Kurzweil, and served the purpose of allowing me to map the sustain pedal and early work on the tempo maps. You can find these versions in a different video on my channel.
3. The Kurzweil versions, which were made using the Kurzweil K2500 and featured a variety of edits from my original Sibelius scores, as well as over 100 hours of small changes to the performances. You can also find these versions on my channel.
4. The final versions, rendered with the Ivory Piano VST, which featured little changes from the Kurzweil versions. These are the versions I released on August 31st.
All in all, this project took over a hundred hours of work, almost all of which was spent on automating the performances.
