In this video, I show one interpretation (of many) for Tie Sao, which is the "rising hand," or second long-bridge motion, from Sil Lum Tao.

ABOUT THIS VIDEO: There are many interpretations to every move in the forms. This is just one.

The interpretation here is similar to the long-bridge Gum Sao. If your hand is already extended because you blocked a low-line attack, and then you see an opening, do you withdraw your hand first and THEN hit? No! Because by then, the opening might be gone.

This move teaches you how to hit from where the hand is. Economy of motion. Believe it or not, that idea did NOT originate with Bruce and JKD; he got it from here.
