Sky Skipper: Nintendo's nearly forgotten arcade game! - Ninchronicles
It's one of the forgotten arcade games from Nintendo, Sky Skipper!
This is a simple game where you, or rather Mr. You, control a plane to rescue playing card themed characters trapped in cages from headphone-wearing gorillas. You fire bombs at the gorillas to knock them out which causes a shockwave so powerful that everyone starts bouncing out of their cages. Makes sense right?
This game possibly was made shortly after Donkey Kong but because it wasn't hitting the same highs as that game after being released in Japan, things weren't looking good for the game. It certainly didn't help that American playtesters also weren't feeling it. With nearly every copy of the game supposedly lost or destroyed, it seemed like Nintendo planned to keep this one under the rug. Luckily, they did have one machine left in their headquarters and they worked with Hamster to release it worldwide on the Switch! Now more people than ever have a chance to experience this lost piece of history.
This is Ninchronicles, the show where we cover Nintendo's entire game library!
