Skyrim 100% Maximized Legendary Playthrough - 251. Even More College of Winterhold Side Quests
We spent the last two videos collecting things for Urag, and now it's time to head back to the College to turn those quests in. However, there are a couple of minor things we need to take care of first. When I was reviewing my video for Blind Cliff Cave, I noticed that I missed a bit of hanging moss in the cave. Surely that's not a big deal, right? The OCD says no, so we make a quick trip back there to pick it up. While we're in the area, we also explored a secondary location nearby in the same video that had a dead sabre cat and a skeleton. I missed a knapsack that was laying right next to them, so we head up the mountain to loot it as well.
Obsessive looting out of the way, we next make a stop by Castle Volkihar. We've been on a mission to collect every spell in the game, and we need to purchase Necromantic Healing from Ronthil to help finish out our collection. Then, at long last, we are ready to head back to the College. Once there, our first order of business is to buy one of the last Conjuration spells we need - Banish Daedra - from Phinis. You may remember we embarrassingly wasted a video recently doing Broken Oar Grotto in the mistaken belief that a tome of this spell could be found there.
Now it's time to take care of some quests. First we turn in Fetch Me That Book! and Shalidor's Insights to Urag. Next, now that we've finished Under Saarthal, the apprentices are back at the College and we can do their side quests. Brelyna's is particularly easy - basically talk to her, wait a few hours, then talk to her again. Onmund's is usuallya little more involved. He wants his amulet back from Enthir, and normally to get Enthir to give it to you you have to do a radiant location to fetch something for him. We've had enough of radiant locations for the moment, so instead we flex our maxed out Speech skill and perks to persuade him to just give it to us.
J'zargo is next, but we noticed him walking out the door for some reason a moment ago. Following him the answer becomes clear: a legendary dragon has decided to pay the College a visit. We decide that this is the perfect time to try out one of our potions of Fortify Destruction to make the process of killing it with spells go faster. It still doesn't compare to the legendary weapons we crafted, but it at least make the process of killing legendary dragons on Legendary difficulty tolerable.
That done we pick up J'zargo's quest. We also visit Sergius, because we have a bit of a problem with his side quest. We picked up his quest to bring him soul gems ages ago, but presumably due to a bug it has disappeared from our quest log. So we cancel his quest and pick up a new one from him, this time to pick up an item for enchanting.
A quick fast travel to Riften picks up the item from Maramal, and the on our way back to the College we stop at Whiterun. The Hall of the Dead is the perfect place to use J'zargo's scrolls to easily kill some low-level undead and complete his quest. Heading back to the College we turn both of these in. I had hoped at this point to pick up a couple more side quests, but it was not to be. I thought Arniel Gane's first side quest was available at this point, but actually you have to complete Hitting the Books first. I also wanted to do Tolfdir's quest, but a quick use of the console to track him down shows that he remains in the final room in Saarthal until you complete Hitting the Books as well.
So our next step is clear to us: it's time at long last to return to the main questline for the College. We'll be heading to Fellglow Keep next time for one of my least favorite quests in the game.
