Skyrim 100% Maximized Legendary Playthrough - 265. The Man Who Cried Wolf
With the College of Winterhold in our rear view mirror, it's time to move on to bigger and better things. Today we're going to take care of a quest that's been in our log for quite some time - The Man Who Cried Wolf. We picked this one up on our very first visit to Solitude, and now it's time to take care of it. Why now? Well, the immediate explanation is that we are rapidly running out of containers in Breezehome to store our unique black soul gems in.
As you may recall, we soul trap any significant foe we fight. The most recent example would be Ancano, whom we killed at the end of the College of Winterhold main questline. I like to store these soul gems for later roleplaying, but the problem is we have to put each of them in a different container, otherwise they will just group together as "Black Soul Gem (Grand) (2)" and there's no way to know which one is which anymore.
We've just about filled all the containers in Breezehome, so we need a new home to expand into. Our target is going to be Proudspire Manor in Solitude, and doing this quest is the first step in becoming Thane of Haafingar and being able to purchase it. There's actually another reason we're specifically going after Proudspire related to our next long-term goal, but I'll explain that in a future video.
I apologize for semi-speedrunning this one. I had tried to record this video twice before, and in both cases I completed it only to find out after the fact that my software did not record properly. So this was technically my third time clearing out Wolfskull Cave, and by then I both knew where everything was and was sick of doing it, so I moved pretty quickly, resulting in a video not even a full 30 minutes long. Wolfskull Cave is not long or hard in any case.
We complete the quest, and the next quest in the chain is The Wolf Queen Awakened, but we have to wait for a courier to find us before we can start that one. Since one is not forthcoming at the moment, we'll need to divert to something else next time, but it will still dovetail with our ultimate plan.
