Skyrim 100% Maximized Legendary Playthrough - 274. Imitation Amnesty and Summerset Shadows
Last time we ended our speedrun of Thieves Guild side jobs by getting the first city reputation quest - Imitation Amnesty, so that's where we start today. This one is actually trivial if you're already Thane of Whiterun, which most players probably are when they do this quest, since you just have to complete Dragon Rising in the main questline. Once you're Thane you can walk into the Jarl's Quarters in Dragonsreach anytime you want, so all we have to do is talk to Olfrid to get the details, then head into Dragonsreach to steal two items, then return to him to wrap it up. It's barely five minutes of work total.
We also completed five jobs in Windhelm last time, so as soon as we turn in Imitation Amnesty the Windhelm quest Summerset Shadows is ready for us. We head up to Windhelm to talk to Torsten Cruel-Sea, and he happens to be outside at his farm since it's daytime. This leads to one of the funniest experiences I've had in this playthrough so far. A legendary dragon appears as we're talking to him. Now normally if you're talking to an NPC and a dragon appears they'll automatically break off dialog to deal with it. However, it appears that this conversation with Torsten is uninterruptable. What's more, while the dragon can fly around and land, apparently it's coded not to actually attack while the conversation is happening either. So we're having a conversation with Torsten and a legendary dragon lands mere feet behind us. Torsten is knocked off his feet but keeps talking anyway. We can literally hear the dragon breathing down our necks behind us, but it doesn't attack. This happens a few times before we make it through the whole conversation, at which point we can turn around and actually deal with the dragon. 10/10, would experience again.
After pressing Niranye for information, we're off to Uttering Hills Cave. Now normally in Thieves Guild quests we'll be going the non-hostile route, choosing stealth instead of killing our way through things. However, when it comes to a rival guild trying to get started, we make an exception. These Altmer upstarts need to be put down - especially considering Linwe is carrying a unique set of armor we need to add to our collection.
With Linwe's armor and soul in hand, we wrap up the quest and return to Riften for yet more grinding. A few more quests sees the Markarth quest, Silver Lining, unlocked, and that's where we'll pick up next time.
