Falkreath Hideout is a small, atmospheric player home by Valkrist Valkier, originally released for Skyrim on Nexus (the mod is open permissions). It is located inside a small Nordic ruin, contains no ambient light sources (no invisible lightbulbs that magically light up an entire room), and comes with basic amenities: a bed, a cooking pot, some storage, and a grindstone.
(No, it is not adoption-friendly.)
The Hideout is located on the path climbing uphill from Falkreath’s western gate, and has a map marker you can fast travel to once you discover the area. Please refer to the delightfully out-of-order (thanks, Bethesda.net) screenshots if you’d like a rough estimation of its location.
A backstory for the home is written by Valkrist Valkrier: “Two eights of days had passed since me and my cohorts split. The hit had been a sound success, and then I found myself walking along the climbing path that branches from Falkreath's west entrance. Until I came across a most singular door. T’was hidden from sight by some vegetation, and after removing most of it, I saw the sturdy design of ancient Nords. Inside I found a small room. Four months had passed since I discovered my then comfortable dwelling. I did not know its purpose and the walls leaked water and the mushrooms grew everywhere, but it was home and a fine hideout. I stashed my share of the loot by the chimney and dedicated my time to live the life of those who do not have to work. But little more than five months could I enjoy that life. The Guards of Falkreath patrolled ever closer to my door, and one day I received proof that this activity was no coincidence. Word got to me that my old mates were falling behind bars one after the other. The treasure's previous owner probably missed it a lot. It was hard leaving everything behind, along with the gold, but I had to travel light. Half a day’s journey from Falkreath something stung me like a bee: I had left a lit torch by the cave’s entrance! But it didn't matter, after all, I couldn’t go back.”

Compatibility — Falkreath Hideout will be incompatible with any other mod that adds objects on the same spot. If you are using a mod that resizes tree models to be larger, you might notice clipping with the exterior. Screenshots on this page are taken with a minimal set-up, no textures, or foliage mods. The mod contains no external assets or scripts. It is cleaned with Microsoft Excel, but I have also checked it with TES5Edit just to be sure afterwards.
