Previously, Davilas finished the Thieves Guild quest "Loud and Clear" by raiding Goldenglow Estate and bringing information to Brynjolf. Now, for the next quest, "Dampened Spirits", Brynjolf has sent Davilas to talk to Maven Black-Briar.

After resuming, Davilas catches up with Maven upstairs in the Bee and Barb in Riften. She wants to put a competitor, Honningbrew Meadery near Whiterun, out of business. She also wants information about their operation. She sends Davilas to speak with Mallus Maccius at the Bannered Mare, the inn in Whiterun. She really does not like Sabjorn.

Davilas fast-travels over to Whiterun. First, he does some inventory management at home. Then, he finds Mallus Maccius sulking in the kitchen at the Bannered Mare. He has quite the plan to put Sabjorn out of commission. Mallus has discreetly created a pest problem at Honningbrew Meadery. Davilas must convince Sabjorn to hire him to poison the pests, and while doing so, Davilas must also poison a vat of mead. This will get Sabjorn sent to prison.

Davilas fast-travels to Honningbrew Meadery outside Whiterun. In the main building, he talks to Sabjorn. Davilas can persuade or intimidate Sabjorn to pay him half up front, but this is not necessary. Sabjorn will give Davilas some Pest Poison and the Honningbrew Meadery Key so that Davilas can take care of the Skeevers. After hearing what Sabjorn has to say about Mallus, I don't feel guilty about double-crossing him.

There are some goodies that can be stolen upstairs in Sabjorn's bedroom. Sabjorn's key opens the door to the bedroom, but Davilas will have to lockpick the door to the storage room beyond. There, he finds a Honningbrew Decanter. If he steals this, he gets the miscellaneous objective "Return the Honningbrew Decanter to Delvin".

Downstairs, Davilas takes the door to the Honningbrew Basement. He needs the Honningbrew Meadery Key to get in. The Honningbrew Basement is absolutely infested by Skeevers and Venomfang Skeevers. Look out for traps and Frostbite Spiders, as well.

In the depths, Davilas will also encounter human resistance from a wizard named Hamelyn. Hamelyn has powerful magic at his disposal, but he is not much in terms of physicality. After killing him, Davilas finds and reads "Hamelyn's Journal", which conveys the madness behind his method.

Past Hamelyn, Davilas finds an Alchemy Lab and a chest. Atop the chest, he can find the book "Three Thieves", which increases Sneak.

At Level 24, Davilas increases his Health. Under Conjuration, he puts a perk point into Novice Conjuration, which halves the cost of novice-level conjuration spells.

Next to the chest, Davilas gets the prompt "Activate Nest". When he does, he poisons the nest. This clears one objective. If you do not see the chest in first-person mode, try going into third-person mode.

Upstairs, Davilas finds the door to the Honningbrew Boilery. On the upper walkway, he can activate the brewer lid in the south to poison the southern vat. Following this, he must return to Sabjorn. The Honningbrew Brewhouse Key is located next to the door. This lets him leave the boilery.

In the main building, Davilas finds Mallus Maccius, Imperial Commander Caius, and Sabjorn waiting. When Davilas talks to Sabjorn and reports that the job is finished, the tasting ceremony plays out. Soooo sorry, Sabjorn. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Afterwards, Davilas talks to Mallus. Mallus gives Davilas Sabjorn's Dresser Key so that Davilas can look through Sabjorn's records. Also, Mallus offers Davilas his services as a fence.

Upstairs in Sabjorn's room, Davilas uses the new key to get into Sabjorn's Dresser. Within, he finds the Promissory Note. Curious; it has the same mark as on the Goldenglow Bill of Sale. After taking this, Davilas must report back to Maven.

Davilas fast-travels back to Riften. Upstairs in the Bee and Barb, he chats with Maven Black-Briar. She advises Davilas to report to Brynjolf immediately, and she rewards him with a piece of equipment.

Down in the Ragged Flagon Cistern, Davilas reports in to Brynjolf. This concludes "Dampened Spirits". The next quest, "Scoundrel's Folly", starts right away. The first objective is to speak to Mercer Frey.

Next time, Davilas will do "Scoundrel's Folly".
