This is video #175 in my playthrough of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition on the PlayStation 4. I am playing the game vanilla. This game has been rated M for Mature by the ESRB. Previously, Davilas carried out the quest "Filial Bonds" and other objectives originating in Skaal Village. He also visited Haknir's Shoal and found Deathbrand's Treasure Map, which allowed him to start the quest "Deathbrand". Now, he will look for the rest of Deathbrand's treasure scattered around Solstheim.

Davilas resumes at Tel Mithryn. Along the coast to the west, he summons Durnehviir the third time. Durnehviir teaches him the final word of "Soul Tear", "Zombie". For learning the entire shout, the player earns the Dawnguard trophy "Soul Tear". Also, from now on, Davilas can use "Summon Durnehviir" to get Durnehviir to help him in battle outdoors.

In the southwest of the Tel Mithryn peninsula, Davilas finds an Ancient Chest where some dead treasure hunters are located. This Ancient Chest contains the Deathbrand Boots.

Then, Davilas fast-travels to the Earth Stone near Raven Rock. From the Earth Stone, he travels north along the coast. He encounters a couple of hostile Reavers by some trees. In the midst of the trees, he finds an Ancient Chest, which contains the Deathbrand Armor.

Then, Davilas fast-travels to Northshore Landing in the northwest. He finds a Riekling camp at Bristleback Cave not far to the south.

Davilas finds a tidal pool inhabited by Mudcrabs farther south. Here, he finds an Ancient Chest containing the Deathbrand Gauntlets. If this is his last Deathbrand gear, Davilas will also find the Gyldenhul Barrow Key. After taking these items, he is prompted to explore Gyldenhul Barrow on an island east of Skaal Village.

Davilas reaches Level 53 and increases his Magicka. He reacquires the second "Overdraw" in Archery.

Davilas fast-travels back to Skaal Village. On an island to the east, he discovers Gyldenhul Barrow, where a couple of Reavers are patrolling the entrance. After taking them out, he enters Gyldenhul Barrow.

Just inside, he finds a dead Adventurer, who has a "Torn Note". Glover Mallory's Ancient Nordic Pickaxe is needed here. There are two Stalhrim Deposits in this place. When Davilas mines the Stalhrim Deposit to the west, a secret passage is revealed.

The next door leads to a treasure room packed with gold and other treasures. It's a good thing there isn't carry weight for money.

Beyond the next door, Davilas will come to Haknir's crypt. When he takes Haknir's scimitar, Deathscythe, Haknir's spirit will come to live. Davilas must defeat Haknir Death-Brand. At various points during the battle, Haknir will warp away and unleash his crew on the Dragonborn. They include Thalin Ebonhand, a mage, and Garuk Windrime, an archer. When Haknir finall stops summon the spirits of his crew, Davilas can finally finish him off.

On Haknir's corpse, Davilas can find the Soulrender, the partner to the Bloodscythe. "Deathbrand" complete!

On the same island, Davilas discovers a landmark, Horker Island.

Davilas fast-travels to Tel Mithryn. First, he talks to Talvas Fathryon, an apprentice. This will trigger a quest in short order.

Davilas enters Tel Mithryn. Upstairs, he talks to Neloth. Neloth first comments on Davilas's accomplishments with regards to Hermaeus Mora and Miraak.

Then, when Neloth asks about his steward, Varona, Davilas admits that he has not seen her. This starts the quest "Reluctant Steward". Neloth demands that Davilas look for Varona.

When Davilas heads outside, Talvas rushes up. He succeeded in summoning an Ash Guardian, but the thing is running amok. Davilas agrees to kill it. This starts the quest "From the Ashes". Talvas will rush inside to distract Neloth.

Davilas has to contend not only with the Ash Guardian but also with a random dragon. The dragon actually takes care of the Ash Guardian. Then, Davilas will have to report to Talvas.

After the dragon is taken out, Davilas enters Tel Mithryn and reports to Talvas Fathryon. "From the Ashes" complete! Talvas rewards Davilas with a staff. Talvas is now available as a follower.

Davilas also asks Talvas about Varona. Talvas recommends that Davilas consult with Elynea, the apothecary.

At the Tel Mithryn Apothecary, Davilas talks to Elynea Mothren. When he asks about Varona, she explains that Varona headed towards Black Rock hours ago. Varona's location is now plotted on the map.
