Previously, Davilas continued the quests available at Tel Mithryn. Following Neloth's advice, he discovered "Black Book: Untold Legends" in Benkongerike and took on one of its active effects. Now, Davilas will continue the quests available at Tel Mithryn.

After resuming, Davilas talks to Neloth and asks about someone attacking the wizard. Neloth issues the quest "Old Friends" and gives Davilas Neloth's Ring of Tracking. With this ring equipped, Davilas will be able to detect things related to the recent spate of Ash Spawn attacks on Neloth.

North and east from Tel Mithryn, Davilas finds a small graveyard where a pine tree is growing near the edge of the water. The ring points out Ildari's Sarcophagus. Davilas must open this sarcophagus and take the Heart Stone. Then, he must return to Neloth.

At Tel Mithryn, Davilas talks to Neloth. Ildari was his former apprentice. Neloth concludes that Ildari must still be alive and is behind the attacks. He assigns Davilas to go to Highpoint Tower and kill her.

Highpoint Tower is east of Raven Rock and northwest of Tel Mithryn. To get to this tower, Davilas fast-travels to Brodir Grove, which is a short distance northwest of the tower. When Davilas arrives, he takes care of some Reavers in the grove, as well as a random Dragon attack. Also, under Alteration, Davilas picks up the second level of "Magic Resistance", which raises his spell resistance to 30%, and "Adept Alteration", which halves the Magicka cost of Adept-level Alteration spells.

Davilas discovers Highpoint Tower southeast of Brodir Grove. Approaching from the north, he finds the tower's sheltered entrance. In this tower, he finds three volumes of Ildari's Journal, which explain Ildari's madness. "Ildari's Journal, vol. I" is a couple of levels down from the entrance. Look out for Soul Gem traps and other traps.

At the base of the first stairway, there is a hive of spiders native to Solstheim.

Past the first Soul Gem trap, Davilas will begin encountering Ash Spawn. There is a magic rune trap and a boulder trap in the room with the Arcane Enchanter.

Davilas soon finds a jail, where "Ildari's Journal, vol. II" is located. Davilas can also free Niyya, the last of the living captives. Once free, Niyya will escape the tower.

When Davilas reaches Level 54, he increases his health. Under Restoration, he picks up "Adept Restoration", which halves the Magicka cost of Adept-level Restoration spells, and "Necromage", which increases the effectiveness of spells against undead.

Deeper into the dungeon, Davilas will come upon the mines underneath the tower. Eventually, he will meet Ildari, who will set some Ash Spawn and an Ash Guardian against him. Near the Alchemy Lab, Davilas finds "Ildari's Journal, vol. III". So, she was the one who killed Neloth's prior steward.

Eventually, Davilas finds Ildari's lair. She has a couple of Soul Gem traps protecting her. Ildari Sarothil herself is a mage. She employs lightning spells. When she is defeated, Davilas must rip her heart out. There is a boss chest in her room. Past Ildari's room, Davilas finds a shortcut to the main entrance.

Davilas fast-travels to Tel Mithryn, where he reports Ildari's death to Neloth. "Old Friends" complete! Neloth rewards Davilas with a staff. He also makes Davilas a member of the Telvanni family. Sweet.

Davilas asks Neloth if he can help with his research. Neloth issues the quest "Heart Stones". He will mark a location where Davilas can find Heart Stones.

However, Davilas already has a Heart Stone, so he turns it in right away. "Heart Stones" complete! Neloth rewards him with a meager payment of gold.

Next time, Davilas will see what else he can do for the loony wizard. Maybe a search for another Black Book is in order.
