The rules for adding custom monsters in ZDoom-style WADs (Hexen format, UDMF, etc.) are different than the ones for the Vanilla-style WADs. After messing around with the DECORATE patch and importing custom sprites in my WAD file, I've learned how to import custom monsters. One thing that I may have not mentioned in this tutorial is that designing your own monsters takes a significant amount of work and time so I think it is easier to just use whatever is available on the Internet (Realm 667 is a great website for this). Also, in the decorate patch, the monsters need a number or they will not show up in GZDB.
