What if Doom 2016 / Doom Eternal had been released in the 90s?
Slayer's Testament is an incredible Quake mod that is a demake of both Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal (2020), and it's created by bloodshot, the person who also made Quake 1.5 Beta a year ago. Slayer's Testament is the perfect game who would like to play modern Doom on not-so-powerful computers, and it runs pretty well for the most part. Doom Eternal has been released March 20th.
Just like both Doom and Doom Eternal, Slayer's Testament is a pretty challenging game that is over-the-top gory, action-packed, and fun to play. It features Doom (2016) bestiary, and it even features both the Cyberdemons and Arachnotrons from Doom Eternal (2020), as Arachnotrons did not appear in Doom (2016). You can glory kill the enemies when they're glowing, but unfortunately, due to the limitations that the Quake engine has, you will not see the animations during glory kills.
Slayer's Testament also features most of the Doom (2016) arsenal and weapon mods, with the exception of the Plasma Rifle, which resembles the Plasma Rifle and its microwave beam mod from Doom Eternal (2020). Slayer's Testament even features the Meat Hook for the Doom (2016) Super Shotgun, and you can use it to grapple the red crystals as well as the enemies. You can also throw frag grenades that explode enemies into mincemeat every time the equipment timer is reset.
Currently, Slayer's Testament features one episode of the main campaign series, 3 episodes of Eternal Path of Destruction (a campaign series that feature classic Doom maps), and 2 survival maps that challenge you to defeat all of the spawning maps in the arena. You can even play the original Quake 1 maps with Doom arsenal and bestiary, with episode 1 currently the only Quake episode that features weapon mods. In the future, more episodes will be released for this mod.
