This video is intended to showcase advanced play styles and will discuss concepts regarding the Sm4sh meta game. We will also be teaching you some new tactics that can improve your overall game and we will provide all of the necessary terms so that you can understand everything we just taught you.

Bait or Baiting: Consists of doing certain moves and movements to try and elicit a certain reaction or move from an opponent, and then punishing that reaction or move. (an example would be down throw to up air as Diddy Kong then jumping and waiting for an air dodge so you can up air again after their dodge ends)

Neutral - The point at which both players are at an even playing field.

Frame Traps: Similar to a baiting however slightly different. Actions designed to make the opponent think they have a good opportunity to attack when they are actually in a poor position to attack (so it looks like you are easily punishable but when your opponent comes in you come out on top)

Mind games: Described as the use of psychology to maximize one's chances of winning. A big part of mind games is archetyping, dissecting the way an opponent plays and then immediately gearing oneself to prepare an effective counter strategy, as well as a great deal of other tactics that take advantage of the amount of predictability present within an opponent.

Mind games generally used within fighting games can include:
• Training an opponent into doing a certain move in response to something, then baiting that response to punish.
• Putting forward an incredible rush down game and then suddenly shifting gears at the least expected moment, and vice versa.
• Deliberately showing a pattern and then changing it part way through once your opponent catches on. For example, one could jump at the opponent and perform a low attack repeatedly throughout the match, then jump at them and perform an overhead attack when they try to block low.

Nerf: a change to a game that makes something less effective or desirable. The word can be used as a verb to describe that change.

Reads/Reading: Reading is when you understand your opponents play style and patterns so that you have a better idea of being able to guess what your opponent is going to do next.

Zoning - spacing your character, hit boxes and potential hit boxes to limit the options of your opponent to create pressure.
