This video shows the basic functions i use in google sketchup. I think you need the pro version to get the option to export as 3D model, which is quite important. (you might find a crack somewhere on the internet)
Also, your bars will probably be ordered differently initially, just move them to where you want.
In the video i often click on the symbols, i suggest making hotkey in windows - preferences though, it's way faster and less annoying.
