SMOD Arcade - Team Troopers (info in description, read it!)
I've gotten this SMOD Arcade gamemode into a crash-free state. I also tried showing off the slight strategy/tactical element to this, the green soldiers will make an effort to follow the player in combat, so if the player stays in a safe spot long enough they'll be able to amass a larger fighting force. In addition, a fully functional class system has been implemented for the troopers, separated between Grunts, Soldiers, Snipers, Specialists, and Machine Gunners. Thanks to ai_goal_standoffs, each class uses different tactics in combat according to their role.
Grunts are the most common unit encountered among the 4 teams and are armed with SMGs, Revolvers, Pistols, and TFC Shotguns. They spawn with 100 HP and are highly aggressive in combat
Soldiers have 200 HP and are armed with AR2s, AK-47s, M-16s, and a few different types of Shotguns. Soldiers tend to take cover more frequently than the grunts in combat, they also move a bit slower at 87%.
Specialists have 150 HP and are armed with grenade launchers, cluster launchers, RPGs, and Bazookas, they also have a rare chance to spawn with Super Shotguns. They have 90% move speed and are a bit more defensive in combat.
Machine Gunners spawn with 300 HP and are armed with M-60s and HMG1s with 75% move speed. They are as aggressive as the Grunts are and can often be seen locking areas down with suppressive fire.
Snipers have 100 HP and spawn with Dragunovs, Annabelles, Crossbows, and Beta Sniper Rifles. They have the highest move speed out of all of the classes, but are the least aggressive units in combat, and their effectiveness is limited without proper fire support.
HUGE THANKS TO SPOTS FOR HIS INFINITE LUA WISDOM
IN CLOSING:
With the class system implemented, the next step will be to make the four soldier factions more distinguished. As you can see in the video not even I am immune to team recognition problems, which led to a friendly fire incident with an allied sniper who spawned at a PERFECT vantage point! I think the most practical way to do this would be to simply change the helmets depending on what team they're on. I also need to give the machine gunners a more unique appearance because they are easily mistaken for grunts in their current state
