UPDATE: Translucent materials seem to cause this, explaining the old chainlink fence issue and why it happens as they're fading out. The new fences use alphatest instead, which solves the issue. It appears that we can get around the smoke grenade issue by dealing with the models, rather than the smokes themselves.
