Does Snapchat's new Snap Map feature cause a privacy risk? In this video I look at what it is, how your location can be tracked and how to prevent it.

Location tracking can be scary - after all, do you want people following you around 24/7? Snap Maps puts your snaps (pictures) on a map. This map isn't just a world map - this is a close-up detailed road map like Google Maps.

Whilst this can be fun if you go to a major landmark or attraction, I wouldn't recommend leaving this on if you're at home or at a friends house. Your home is meant to be private after all.

This video isn't scare-mongering - in fact I recommend Snap Maps in certain situations. It's just something I wouldn't use all the time. Put it this way: your friends should know where you live - so why would they need to know where your house is?

Snap Maps can be fun - I just think it's a little too precise. It would be better if they followed Facebook/Instagram's location feature. For example 'I'm at the London Eye', not 'I'm right here at this exact spot'.
