Comments:
This gameplay was tiresome. I didn't expect it to last that long. It was my first challenge with a game of several hours of gameplay, and it took 3 full days to finish. First point: it was difficult at first to adapt to the controls. I had a difficult time in the beginning to try to forget the modern controls of football games (from PES itself, which is the evolution of ISS). I thought about adapting the buttons by the emulator, so that the R was the run, but ... I gave up on the idea and forced myself to adapt with what the game allows. I just changed the run button with the kick, from the game's own options. Result: Right hand with 3 fingers on three buttons at the same time: run, kick and pass/take. Left hand, from the second day, had a blister on my thumb and the middle finger, due to the friction, was getting swollen. I think it's more a matter of me being unaccustomed to playing so many hours, in a row, a game that demands so much from the directional. After about 1-2 hours of play (I tried to play for about half an hour before recording) I think I got used to the game. You can see an evolution over the matches. In the second season of the World Series, of the 23 games, in 22 I scored at least 10 goals (luck of Russia, who played quite defensively). I believe that in order to complete the game (Any%) I should play the International Cup (7 games) and the two seasons of the World Series (23 + 23 + the special extra game). But I still completed the Scenarios, where some were quite challenging. The last two, who needed to score 3 goals at 1:00 or 1:30, were "ridiculous" and I would be trying so far ... if I hadn't discovered the "pass to defender followed by slide tackle" technique. This made it much easier to complete these challenges, and increased the number of goals per game (I played the second season of the world series after discovering this). I am pleased that I did not have to use passwords at any time due to lost a game (which, in the world series, would be necessary, since Germany only lost to me). The only times I used passwords were at a time when the emulator crashed, and when I stopped to continue the next day. Well, it's a classic game, a precursor to modern football games, and it has its merits. But the truth is, I didn't really like playing today. There are many irritating aspects. I still don't understand how to improve the chances from corners or crosses. Taking the ball from the opponent sometimes seems impossible, even in front of him, pressing the button to take the ball, does not work. Switching is a miserable task, as it is often switched to players who are distant or behind their opponents, which leaves you lost with a quick counter attack. And mostly ... the kick from outside the area doesn't work. I was unable to score a single goal, with the goalkeeper positioned in the goal. I haven't figured out how to do this. I had to discover the technique of dribbling the goalkeeper in order to score. I think a football game is boring without the thrill of shooting from afar to score. And, after a certain point, the matches became very repetitive. It is taking the ball, touching fast, running, touching for the defender, slide tackle, coming face to face with the goalkeeper, dribbling and scoring the goal. And repeat that. And one more thing: the HORRIBLE choice of moments to interrupt the match (TIME UP). More than once, when I kicked to score the goal, the referee whistled the instant of my kick, with the ball going to the empty goal. There was a difficult scenario that I would complete, score the winning goal, and that happened. It had been the SEVERAL times entering the area alone, and the judge ending the game. That's annoying. So, part of me wants to give 3 stars. However, it is a game that marked my childhood, it has great importance in the history of games (mainly football) and a large fan base, and an even greater merit for having created one of the greatest football legends: Allejo. So 4 stars.
