(SNES) U.N. SQUADRON (AREA 88) - Complete Playthrough (036)
Long play #36. U.N. Squadron is Capcom's take on the side scrolling shoot'emup. In Japan, the game is known as Area 88, based on a manga/anime of the same name. It's an arcade port with slight changes. We get three pilots to choose from: Shin Kazama, Mickey Simon, or Greg Gates. However in the SNES version, we can buy new planes, instead of just buying special weapons.
The story is the same as the manga/anime. We are playing as mercenary fighter pilots, doing missions for the kingdom of Aslan. Each enemy we defeat earns us money, that can be used to buy new planes and special weapons. In the playthrough, our pilot starts with a F8E Crusader, and end up purchasing an F-20 Tigershark, YF-23 Stealth Ray, and the fantastic F-200 Efreet.
Most of the enemies in the game is based on a real life military aircrafts as well, although with fantastic weapons. We'll face off against a long range B-2 bomber, a giant SR-71 Blackbird, and other cool fantastic like the land based desert carrier. All in all, it's a pretty cool shooter. Hope you enjoy it!
