The Studio Canvas series is the successor to the Sound Canvas, they're otherwise unrelated. The Edirol SD-90 includes all of the engine features of the XV-5080 (except for expandability), such as high quality SRV reverb, COSM effects like Guitar Amp Simulator and the ability to customize every parameter of a preset, or create your own from scratch. The SD-20 is missing almost all of this, and is overall pretty mediocre. Most instruments have new samples, and those that don't have been reprogrammed and noticeably improved over their SC-8850 versions.
Recording by Roland featuring tenor sax, baritone sax, stereo piano, acoustic bass and stereo drums from the SD-90 played alongside some jazz scat.
