If you really really want, you can solder without flux. But it is a painful experience. Almost all modern solders have flux integrated into its core. And as long as you do not try to solder anything big, it's enough. Of course, sometimes it is not enough and you have to help yourself with additional flux.
There are many options:
* solid "crystal" rosin flux that you have to melt to apply. Cheap but not very useful
* soldering paste that is the same stuff as above, only turned into a paste. Much easier to use
* different liquid fluxes that usually are used in SMD and BGA process. As long as they are "no clean", you can use them freely
* my favorite flux pens. It's really a genius stuff. Liquid flux in a form on a marker. Open, apply, close, solder. Come in many shapes and sizes, I use German Stannol X32.
