High Pass Filter, HPF. What does it do? It passes high-frequency components of a signal (above cutoff frequency) but attenuates low-frequency signal components (below the cutoff frequency). Since it's hard to make a visualization of this process with a software HPF filter, let's make an analog equivalent using a resistor and capacitor and connect all of that to signal generator and oscilloscope. Yeah, science!

Where can one use an RC high pass filter? Everywhere when there is a need to cut off low-frequency distortions and signal components. Like a carrier wave for example.

The fun begins when you combine low pass filter with a high pass filter! This allows building band-pass and band-stop filters!
