Here's a quick tutorial on how to solve this puzzle, and the logic behind the puzzle.

1) You don't need to do anything special with your inventory (like sorting it).

2) The first three "Single" pieces can only be placed in one specific spot each. You cannot mess them up.

3) The remaining slabs have two symbols each on them. Choosing the correct slab for the first empty location is the key to solving the rest of the puzzle. The FIRST piece should match the two SINGLE pieces that you laid side-by-side.

Once you get that FIRST double-slab with the Two White Symbols placed correctly, the other three slabs will be constrained so that it is impossible to get the puzzle wrong. Just click on a hand that shows an individual slab in your inventory, and set them down.
