Some Guy's SMW Challenge [78] Breaking the Sound Barrier

Complete the Special World at increased emulator speed.
Now, as I've mentioned in the past, if I set ZSNES to 2x speed, it's actually going around 3 to 4 times as fast for some reason, and that's just too fast for me to be able to handle this challenge! So, I tried it on Snes9x, and I can get actual 2x speed there, and it was more manageable. I did use savestates, but only on the map after every other level (where you normally get a save prompt anyway).
Unfortunately, and I don't know what the deal is, I couldn't successfully record sound when I tried recording the .avi file. I kept getting an error message that said it was unable to initialize XAudio2, meaning that I wouldn't be able to hear any sound, and that it's usually caused by not having a recent DirectX release installed. Now, I confirmed that my DirectX is up-to-date, but the issue is still present. So, I decided to just record it without sound, and then use WMM to insert some music, just so you won't be watching a completely silent video.
Suffice it to say that I'm probably not going to use Snes9x to make .avi files anymore unless the problem gets fixed somehow, so I'm not taking any more challenges that involve speeding up the emulator for now.
