Not sure if I'll play Sonic 2 8-bit and Sonic & Tails 1/Sonic Chaos on Game Gear (GG) or Sega Master System (SMS), but I'm leaning towards GG if only because of it being a more updated release, even if some of the changes made in Sonic 2 8-bit on the GG especially are sort of shitty. At the very least, Sonic 1 8-bit seemed to be a better pick on GG definitively over the SMS, screen crunch be damned. No, I did not get all the Chaos Emeralds. I don't usually give a shit if the only reward is a point total bonus.
