Found in the Game Gear and Master System versions of Sonic 2, is a small bug that let's Sonic pass through badnicks without needing to roll.

To do so, first find a loop somewhere in any Act that has one, and simply press down to roll just before approaching it, if done right Sonic will walk towards the loop fully, and the rolling animation is canceled, but the hitbox's still active, allowing to defeat enemies without taking damage, as long you continue running without jumping after exiting the loop.
