Sonic 2 Delta v0.39a :: Attempted Speedrun (720p/60fps)
375Sonic 2 Delta is a groundbreaking series of ROM hacks made by Esrael Neto, which restore several deleted levels and prototype elements to Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Mega Drive.
Various features of Sonic 2 Delta, common across the series despite the existence of several versions/branches of the hack, include the use of art and music from the betas and Sonic the Hedgehog and re-implementation of badniks that had been removed from the final game. The level order of Sonic 2 Delta is also similar to the original intended order, rather than that used in the final version.
The main version of this hack is entitled Sonic 2 Delta and was based upon the Simon Wai prototype, before version 0.24 transferred the codebase to ‘revision 2’ of Sonic 2 from Sonic Compilation and before version 0.29 transferred to the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles codebase.
Onto the run here, this was actually done back in June lol, though I wasn't sure when i'd post this. Just to show off any differences compared to the last time I played this, one to highlight is Winter Hill, it's actually been replaced with a port of the stage "Robotnik Winter" from Sonic Triple Trouble. This might be the closest thing to getting any sort of stage from the Game Gear series onto Genesis.
Second would probably be Hidden Palace, in act 2 the layout has been slightly changed including the boss battle.
Lastly, when finishing the acts, it plays like S3&K so you can't go past the sign post screen, which is why the run ended at Sky Chase lol. There's weird collisions when trying to jump out of the plane or go any of the enemies, the transition from Sky Chase to Wing Fortress can't work out (unless debug mode to do it).
