Sonic 3D Blast - The Green, Green Groves of Home
2Got my Saturn up and running! Giving it a try with Sonic 3D Blast. It's not the BEST game, but it DOES have one of my overall favorite soundtracks. Sadly, SEGA decided to put the Genesis version on Steam, so the only way to experience this is on the Saturn itself.
I knew the music was different, and the longer CG sequence wasn't surprising... But I WAS A bit surprised by the special stage being completely different. That is VERY OK, though. The Genesis version was kind of annoying. Not only does the Saturn version have one of my favorite music tracks in all of gaming, but it works more like Sonic 2's half-pipe which was always fun.
One downside is the load times. I'm a patient person... But I clipped out about 30-60 seconds of each load sequence for this upload. It's pretty nutty.
Lastly, I wanted to test re-compressing the visual to 4:3. I have this going through an HDMI upsampler that automatically stretches it to 16:9. I'll probably do this for PS2 games, too.
