Welcome to my playtrough of the final entry in the Sonic Advance series.

This game takes place a while after Sonic's last adventure where he had to kill a very good friend after Eggman made him lose his mind and overload with too much power, but as you might expect of him Eggman not caring much about practically having Sonic kill his own son has been busy at work for his new scheme.

Sonic and Tails pick up a signal of the Chaos Emeralds being used and set off in the direction where this came from, this is where they run into doctor Eggman's new base of operations just in time to see Eggman lay the finishing touches at his new machine.

Eggman presses a button on his computer, as Sonic and Tails watch, the computer gives off the blinding light of Chaos Control and with this Eggman is able to break the planet into different pieces with Sonic and Tails being blown away to the under construction city of Route 99.

In Route 99 Sonic and Tails come to the conclusion that to fix the terrible thing Eggman did to the planet they would have to induce another powerful form of Chaos Control themselves and seeing that the Chaos Emeralds have scattered around again after Eggman's experiments Sonic and Tails need to gather the seven mystical gems before Eggman can re-obtain them, and with them and the Master Emerald up on Angel Island they might be able to fix the planet and stop Eggman from doing that ever again.

So Sonic and Tails start on their journey to get the Chaos Emeralds and if possible gain some more allies because they might have been blasted away from their home by the Chaos Control Eggman induced.

In this part we play trough the first zone Route 99 this city stage introduces to us the main mechanic of Sonic Advance 3: Tag Teams, you need to pick two characters when starting this game and at the beginning your choices are pretty limited because you only have access to two characters so you would either have Tails and Sonic or Sonic and Tails, this doesn't mean that you only have one set of abilities because depending on your leader and sidekick so let me tell you what Sonic and Tails can do depending on the order use the two of them.

Sonic in the lead with Tails as sidekick:
I would call this the most basic team you could go with, that doesn't mean it's bad however.
When Sonic is teamed up with Tails, Sonic can use the Slide-kick to defeat enemies on ground level Sonic can also still Spindash and Spin jump to get trough the levels. In this game you also are able to use your partner to do something specific to that character and for Tails that is when you hold R and release it Tails will make Sonic jump very high so he could reach places that ordinarily would be impossible to get to without being able to fly, speaking of flight when you hold R and release it in mid-air Tails will start flying while carrying Sonic so they could make it wherever Tails' stamina lets them go.

Tails in the lead with Sonic as sidekick:
This would be another of the most basic teams because you have these two from the very beginning.
When Tails is in the lead he can use his Tail Swipe to attack enemies on the ground but Tails can also Spin Dash and Spin Jump like normal and because it's Tails he can also fly to reach higher places then Sonic could reach on his own. With Sonic as a partner this means he can be used as a burst of speed putting the lead character in Boost Mode immediately, which is something only a team with Sonic can do, as a final thing there are certain special teams that have access to the trick system from Sonic Advance 2 where you could hold up down or left/right and press R while being launched of a spring or jump panels to either gain speed, air or go down.

While I go trough the levels I make sure to collect the 10 Chao scattered throughout every zone in the game to gain the ability to get one of the Chaos Emeralds which are inside a special stage where your lead character stands on top of the Tornado 2 which the partner pilots towards rings and avoiding bombs.
The objective of the special stages is to gather a certain amount of rings before reaching the end in order to win a Chaos Emerald.

After beating all 3 acts we gain access to the Boss act where Eggman is waiting for us with a new familiar looking robot on his side this robot is a recreation of Emerl's design from the last time Sonic and Eggman met so this is pretty much a punch in the gut by Eggman because not only is this robot a cheap imitation of a dead friend he is build with the data Eggman had of set friend inside of him but programmed to serve Eggman and fight Sonic and pals, this robot is named G-merl.

G-merl is only the first obstacle and they still have to deal with Eggman and his new mech: the Egg Hammer 3, after we beat this mech that kept on smashing its head on either side of him we find our way to the next part of the planet thanks to Chaos Control.

But we will find out where they ended up next time.
