Welcome back to Sonic Battle.

Last time we finished Cream's part of this story, where Cream needed to see that in order to protect herself she needs to fight sometimes despite her dislike for violence and after she learned this she was able to help Emerl get the 6th Chaos Emerald and it also helped her and Emerl escape from Dr. Eggman's base the Gimme Shelter.

In this part we start Shadow the Hedgehog's part of this story.

Shadow's story begins right after Eggman discovers the Gizoid who will later be known as Emerl, Shadow enters the Gimme Shelter because he felt some power which is very familiar to Shadow and he claims that this kind of power should not exist.

When Shadow gets to the computer he finds the Gizoid which is what called him here while Shadow is looking at the Gizoid, Rouge enters and explains to Shadow what he is looking at and what it is: a weapon, the "Ultimate Life Form" just like Shadow but Emerl is about 4000 years older than he is.

After a bit the alarm goes of and Eggman's Guard robots which Rouge and Shadow need to defeat but before they can destroy the robots Shadow is injured by these piles of scrap metal, at which point Rouge finishes of the guard.

Rouge and Shadow escape the Gimme Shelter and make their way to Club Rouge where Rouge offers Shadow a place to stay and recover, at this point we are Shadow has some flashbacks, to when Shadow was first created, also to Maria's final words, another flashback is of when he was awakened by Dr. Eggman at the beginning of Sonic Adventure 2.

When Shadow finally awakens he thanks Rouge for getting him to her home and letting him rest here at which point Rouge tells Shadow that Emerl can be found at Emerald Beach with Sonic and Tails.

Thus Shadow goes of toward the Emerald Beach where he finds Sonic and asks him where Emerl is, Sonic then asks Shadow why he wants Emerl to which Shadow tells Sonic that he simply wants to welcome Emerl as a "fellow weapon" as awakening Emerl with the 7 Chaos Emeralds is dangerous and will most likely destroy the planet if done, Sonic then reminds Shadow that he also was supposed to be the military's top secret weapon and went against that to save humanity because of Maria's wish proving to Sonic that, like Emerl, Shadow has a heart and isn't capable of actually destroying the planet.

Shadow then tells Sonic that he and Emerl were created as weapons (even though Shadow was created to find a cure for Gerald's granddaughter, and Shadow's best friend Maria) and that if the world ever wants true peach they need to destroy both him and Emerl.

At this point Sonic mentions that Rouge told him that there is a keyword which can overwrite Emerl's core programming, making him an ordinary robot, and then they don't need to worry about Emerl awakening, when Sonic tells Shadow to just take Emerl and find out if he has it in him to destroy Emerl, the Gizoid gets to the beach because the Chaos Emeralds inside him are reacting to the nearby 7th Chaos Emerald that Shadow has been holding, Emerl after getting out of the trance he has been in since asks why Sonic is looking at him like that, to which Sonic tells Emerl to go with Shadow to find out what he really is.
