Ok, so this is the one level in the game I just couldn't beat the record for. I always thought I must've been missing something, and then finally years later I figured out what it was. In my old runs, I wasn't taking the ramp to go to the top route at about ~5 seconds in. Getting up there is pretty random, but the really disappointing thing is I got the touch and got sent up plenty of times in my old attempts and would immediately reset because I didn't want it to happen. So grinding out it to occur this time was a painful experience.

Decided to play really tough here to grind out a super solid time though, and I'm happy with this result. This stage is now the shortest in the game too, overtaking Twinkle Snow 2.

Note: For those who don't know, the pausing is pretty necessary. The Sonic tag is not supposed to allow you to jump, however if you pause, then unpause you can easily while the game is paused switch from not holding A, and holding R, to holding A and not holding R and you will jump as you release the tag. This can be done in real time, but it's frame perfect, it's just way easier to pause.
