While we were at E3 this year, we go some information from a SEGA PR that right next to the convention center at Club Nokia, that there was a Sonic the Hedgehog event where fans can celebrate his 20th Anniversary. We we pretty excited about this news so we made sure to not miss the event, but what we didn't expect was how BIG this event would actually be!
To enter the event, you had to have had a ticket, or you could wait in the non-ticket line, and hope that they chose you to go to the club...we wre fortunate to make it in because of our E3 badges. your led upstairs to a "Blue Carpet" event where you take pictures as your led to the entrance of the club. The club was decked with Sonic posters & decor, even blue strobe lighting! The place was awesome! We also were given a lot of free stuff too...we were given free Sonic Generation t-shirts, Sonic Generations exclusive pins, and Sonic hats! Was really cool see everyone looking like Sonic wearing those hats!
Back to the actual event! They had stations all over the club were you could play the Sonic Generations demo...it was the same playable demo at E3, which was the Greenhill Zone. You also had the opportunity to have you picture taken, and to watch a speed painting done of Classic Sonic, and Modern Sonic.
We actually thought "this" was the event...we were having fun, but we were thinking of leaving because we did everything we had to do in the club...but we were wrong, the event had only begun!
The event started, and we were told it would be lived streamed on GameSpot! The creators of the Sonic Team came out, and we got a live performance from Crush 40! It was insane, totally unexpected, and extremely awesome!!
A BIG THANKS again to Keith Apicary for taking the time to talk to us as many times as he did at E3...If you ever get a chance to meet this guy, totally approach him, he is extremely cool!
