I could be wrong, but I think this is the only level with a bottomless pit. And of course the one section above it is the hardest actual platforming section in the game, thankfully it's short.
The boss itself is pretty easy, and you can beat it a lot faster by abusing invincibility frames, but I wanted to do a proper no-hit run. The 2011 version smooths out the spinning blade animations so it looks a lot cooler than before.
Uh...not much to say here. There was a period of time where I thought Sonic CD was a bit jank, but after replaying it now? I think it holds up better than the reputation it gets nowadays. Is it as good as 3&K or Mania? No, but other than a few special stages and maybe the Robot Transporter in Wacky Workbench 1, I'd argue it's much less frustrating than 1 and 2 can get. It's a series high point, that's for sure.
