The story to Sonic Chaos is simple; Dr. Robotnik has captured the red Chaos Emerald with Sonic in chase. As either Sonic or Tails, you must essentially stop Dr. Robotnik from world domination. A simplistic Sonic story perhaps, but Sonic Chaos' main objective from a gameplay perspective is to collect all the Chaos Emeralds. This is not essential, but it's really the only 'difficult' aspect of Sonic Chaos; it is a very short Sonic game. Sonic Chaos even has it's own difficulty curve of sorts, as Tails cannot collect the Chaos Emeralds, which means an automatic 'Good Ending'. Tails also starts off with more lives, and even more continues!
Sonic Chaos does gets it's fair share of criticism for it's low difficulty, as you can simply speed through Zones in a few minutes. However, there is something simplistic and casual I personally like about this game. It's no classic Sonic game, nor is it the best 8-bit Sonic game, but Sonic Chaos is a fun and quick game I would certainly recommend on either format.
