Even classic video games have their crappy bosses. Sonic The Hedgehog 1, for the SEGA Game Gear, is no exception. I feel like I am picking on Sonic with recent editions, but I do like this game. Unfortunately, that does not spare itself from crappy boss battles status. Same game, second boss, and again, the Game Gear version Sonic boss is just plain flawed. The Master System version sees the slope-like bridges replaced with pits, so it makes it harder. They really should have tested this...

When Robotnik appears on either side - usually the left side - simply use your roll attack and as long as you hold down on the D-Pad, Sonic to keep rolling on the spot. Not only will this allow you to get multiple hits, Robotnik's projectiles will be unable to hit you. Repeat for a very easy win.

Also, extra life at the very start of the level, because why not. On a side note, the lives' counter maxes out at 9 when playing the game. A strange quirk for SEGA games of the era. Not that you'll need more then 9 lives for this game, but still..
