Alternative BAD Endings: DEBUG DEATH - Sonic The Hedgehog (SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis) ✔
Have you ever thought to yourself when completing the original Sonic The Hedgehog that the ending was somewhat underwhelming? Even if you got all the Chaos Emeralds or not? There's no real consequences for failure. Well, fret not: there is an alternate ending you can try out..
It requires Debug Mode to be activated (Up, C, Down, C, Left, C, Right. A & Start simultaneously), so you'll have to progress through the game, if you have the patience for it. Also, you must have only one life remaining. Otherwise, the game simply 'freezes'. Well, it does that anyway, but losing your last life, will bring up the Game Over music, even though it doesn't say it on the screen. Also, only the Sunflowers keep moving when this happens for some reason.
When the end game sequences begins after beating the Final Zone, you can use Debug Mode to control Sonic manually anytime before reaching the furry critters. And you should exploit Debug Mode, to kill Sonic. Especially if you fail to collect any of the Chaos Emeralds. Not that they do anything special in the game.
Sonic defeated Dr. Robotnik, but allowed him to escape with all the Chaos Emeralds, so he must die. 'Try Again...'
