Sonic Frontiers Was Almost Great

Hello everyone! Having not uploaded for the last 8 months, it's great to be back. When I first played Sonic Frontiers I really didn't like it. The game was clearly unfinished and had lots of glitches, a poorly written story, limited movement, and a lack of original content. Sonic Frontiers just wasn't able to impress me. The base game was incredibly rough around the edges, and I still stand by my criticisms of it. However, over the course of 2023, the game was updated retroactively by Sonic Team - adding in a ton of new playable content, fixing various bugs and glitches, tweaking Sonic's physics modifiers, and even going as far as rewriting the end of the game.

The production of this video began before these updates were released, so I had to redraft and change certain sections of the script over the course of 2023, this is why I have the fakeout conclusion at 3 hours in, I wanted to keep my original conclusion to round off my criticisms of the base-game and use it as a way to transition into talking about the post-game updates.

In this video we're going to be covering all of the content and mechanics in Sonic Frontiers including the open worlds, collectible items, guardian minibosses, cyberspace stages, fishing, movement & physics, combat, levelling, main story, side stories; and all of the game's post launch content, fixes, and quality of life improvements. Sonic Frontiers is a game burdened with so many issues, and yet it's still the best Sonic game we've gotten since Sonic Generations in 2011 in my opinion.
