Welcome to the first release of Sonic Mania Randomizer or Randomizer Mania.
this is a full game randomizer that changes up the level order, game modes, characters, itemboxes, and enemy locations randomly or based off the desired seed value (set in config.ini)
This mod has 3 basic modes or "Playlists". "Mania" "Encore" and "AllCore" in each mode you will play though all the stages of that mode in that modes playstyle. in AllCore you play though every level in Mania and Encore in their respective modes.
Itembox distribution can be setup in the config as well, this will let you dial in the right mix of each kind of box you'll find in the game and how often they show up.
Custom Itemboxes have been added. "EXIT" or (Up a level) will take you to the next level in your current playlist. Down A Level, will take you down a level in your playlist. finally emerald boxes will give you a chaos emerald when found. how often and how many show up can be configured in the config.ini
Custom Music is supported. you can stick your won MP3's (renamed with .ogg) and the game will pick these files up automatically and play them randomly instead of mania's built in music. see the included Config Reference Guide for more info.
Special Stages do have Randomization but at this time it's recommended you keep this turned off and stay out of special stages when possible. the game tries to give wrong emeralds in the wrong stages even if they're not randomized and as such while emeralds can be obtained it might be impossible to collect all 7 as some times the special stage will try and give you one you already have. this is a problem im actively looking into but didn't think it was enough of a deal breaker to delay the public release.
This release is geared more toward speed runners and as such has a lot of features with them in mind. All ideas for features are appreciated though.
Amy Mania is the only release that's currently compatible with this randomizer. while others will work if they replace the itembox.bin or gif, that will break how the custom itemboxes display. removing these from the character mod you want to use should let it run fine or just change the order so the Randomizer has priority.
Stage mods should also work provided they do not mod the GameConfig. no support will be provided however and your mileage may vary.
