Sonic Ringworld Sega Saturn Real Hardware Sage 2022
206We're in for a treat today. The SAGE (Sonic Amateur Games Expo) features not 1, but 2 Sega Saturn entries. This one is Sonic Ringworld. Its just a test level at this stage, but it demonstrates some basic mechanics such as collision detection (eg sonic tilting to match terrain when running over obstacles) Y and Z buttons can be used to turn collision detection on and off and to turn the terrain polygons on and off. The frame rate is still not great, but this has a lot of potential. Really looking forward to seeing more update.
Running on real hardware. Burned to a CD-R and played using a Pseudo Saturn Cart. The Saturn itself is outputting via RGB Scart into an OSSC. 240p is line doubled to 480p and then recorded via a USB capture device. I'm using OBS to record the footage.
