Sonic Smackdown is an excellent fangame created by ArcForged. It's a fighting game in the midst of Marvel vs Capcom 3's core gameplay without the X-Factor, team members, and by extension, team aerial combos. However, in its place would be two features; rings that you can collect by knocking your opponent to the floor or a wall REAL hard to restore your health and the Burst feature from the Arc System Works fighting games which you can use to break away from a combo.
So far, this fan game has eight playable characters. I'm taking the helm of Mecha Sonic who gained underrated yet respectable fame from Sonic 3 and Knuckles and most importantly, the flash videos you would see on Newgrounds...namely Super Mario Bros Z.
ArcForged is making an actual fighting game series called Origin of Storms which is inspired by both Marvel vs. Capcom and Bloody Roar which turns out to be an interesting project of its own right. If you guys are interested, check out his page over at Twitter.
