Correction: I mention that the remake plays at 60 fps while this Genesis cartridge runs at 30 fps, but that's actually only true for the special stages. The original game also runs at 60 fps, I was just limited to 30 by my streaming configuration, in an effort to keep the video quality up. Speaking of which...

Video quality note: Hmm, limiting to 30 fps for the stream and making the sidebar static helped with the overall video quality, I think, but the 30 fps came with some drawbacks. Lots of flickering and transparency effects on the Genesis, like the shield powerup and flames from Robotnik's various robots, are drawn every other frame of 60, so when I'm cutting it to 30, you either get solid flames or nonexistent flames, and the shield is either fully in one frame of its animation or the other. I think the next thing to try (besides just paying for a faster internet package) is recording video locally in 60 fps while streaming in 30 fps, then using the local recording for YouTube. We'll see if my computer can keep up. Stay tuned...
