Sonic the Hedgehog Debug Mode (RG80)
Today we are playing Sonic the Hedgehog, a very classic game but with an interesting twist! The main goal of this video is to display just how cool Sonic the Hedgehog's debug mode can be. It allows you to do all sorts of neat things including spawn enemies and objects, slow down time, become eternally invincible, and enables you to float through the air and walls. The coolest part is that you don't even need a cheating device to do this, and all of the required codes are already built into the game! Even if you are not playing the original game for the Sega Genesis, there are codes for ported versions such as Sonic Mega Collection as well.
These are the codes if you are playing the game on the Sega Genesis:
Level Select - Up Down Left Right
Debug Mode - Up C Down C Left C Right
Then when you want to begin the game hold A and press Start.
Once debug mode has been enabled and you are in-game, you can perform these actions while the game is paused:
Hold B to slow down time. While B is held you can move around and jump as if the game was unpaused.
Press A to return to the title screen.
The codes for the ported versions are similar (and in fact the level select code is exactly the same) although the C button will have been remapped to something else.
I really encourage you to try this out for yourself. There are so many cool things that you can do with this and there are many levels that I did not show in the video. Try and see how many crazy glitches and normally inaccessible areas you can find!
