Growing up, this was my favourite Sonic game. For the uninitiated, it's a different game to the Mega Drive / Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog, it's emptier and slower than its 16-bit cousin, but there's some fun changes. The emeralds are now hidden in the levels, and the bonus stages are purely to get lives and continues. The biggest change is probably that getting hit means your rings are just gone, acting a bit more like a shield I suppose.
It's still fun, but after playing through the Game Gear version recently this one feels a little janky. Maybe the Master System version was always like that, maybe it's the Wii Virtual Console emulation, or maybe it's all that going through a WiiU?

Sonic The Hedgehog Master System - Wii Virtual Console Version (which might be a dodgy port?)
