This run had a ridiculously good start. Sad I ended up just missed out on the sub 30 here, but that's how it goes sometimes.

Best Ending in this game involves getting all of the Chaos Emeralds. This means going into and completing all 5 Special Stages in the game. Which are actually pretty cool.

To go into the Special Stages, you need to have 50 rings and then pop an Emerald Monitor. Both these qualifications make routing kinda interesting - the rings are mostly achieved by getting a chaos emerald signpost, by ending a stage with X0 rings at the end. Luckily after finishing a Special Stage it takes your rings to 0, so finishing right after makes it a simple task for the next level.
