Sonic Unleashed RPCS3 - Rooftop Run Day - Lenovo Legion Y540 Laptop
Testing PS3 emulation for Sonic Unleashed on my laptop using the latest build of RPCS3:
https://rpcs3.net/
As you can see, performance is all over the place when playing this. The parts that use a lot of bloom effects and shadows tank in framerate to slideshow territory whereas most places tend to run above the PS3's framerate. Still, for the most part, it's definitely playable.
Performance in Sonic Unleashed is all over the place. Some parts run smoother via emulator (Savannah Citadel Night and Dragon Road Night), some run worse (Rooftop Run Night) and some are incosistent across the board (almost all daytime stages). Still, compared to Xenia, all stages are stable with no crashes.
RPCS3 is mostly dependent on CPU power. And while the graph shows around 50%-60% usage, it's actually close to 100%. I don't know why but what MSI Afterburner graphs show when it comes to CPU usage is lower than the real CPU usage. Also, some bug when it comes to CPU throttling due to power limit. It only happens with RPCS3 emulator, after some time the TDP hard caps at 50W (even though performance mode gives me a TDP of 54W). Still, this is really impressive all things considered and I can't wait for future updates for the emulator.
