Sony Confirms Horizon Forbidden West Free to upgrade from PS4 to PS5
11(4K60 Video) In the video today, Sony Confirms Horizon Forbidden West will be Free to upgrade from PS4 to PS5. Earlier last week when Horizon Zero dawn was available for pre-order it was noted that you were not able to upgrade your PS4 version of the game to the PS5 version. This didn’t really make any sense as the most obvious thing to do is to allow PS4 gamers and fans who wanted to buy the game, an option to upgrade their version of the game either when they could afford to do so or when more PS5’s were readily available. I mean why alienate a fan base? It doesn’t make sense. Not being able to upgrade from PS4 $60 game to the PS5 version causes problems.
Firstly Sony promised during the launch of the PS5 that all games would upgrade to the PS5 version, initially this would be free, and with the free upgrade you will get better frame rates/higher fidelity and a more stable game running on the PS5. Also with there being limited availability of the PS5 console doesn’t make sense forcing people who really want to play the game that done have a PS5 to buy the game on PS4 and for them to have to buy the game again once there were more PS5’s on the market.
A really shitty move by Sony or Guerilla games, who’s ever idea this was to structure the sales, pricing and upgrade path for this game. OK, So this was earlier this week. Following the social media backlash from gamers and PlayStation fans, this upgrade path has been changed. You now can buy Horizon Forbidden West on the PS4 and you will be able to upgrade it to the PS5 console for free. Watch the video for a full update.
