Released in Japan by Sony and developed by Punchline; when it came overseas to the west, it had to be licensed out to third party publishers just so it could make it onto store shelves. Even then, the game was banned in the UK due to too much controversy. Rule of Rose is a very fascinating PS2 exclusive because of this reason, and definitely one of Sony’s “black sheep” in their catalogue of IP.
