SOR2X funny glitch
0This was part of a Mania run which I thankfully didn't record because it failed on the final boss. Don't know if that makes it better or worse.
I want to say SOR2X is a jank-ass game with broken hitboxes, annoying enemy behavior, etc., but that's not any different from a lot of beat em' ups from the 90's including the SOR series, and yes that includes Streets of Rage 2.
I think I still like it over Remake. Like, at least the gameplay is something different and you have different mechanics and juggles and stuff.
Some enemies seem kinda bullet spongy but I'm not good at the game so yeah. Still, the higher tier enemies, they take an entire super and it's like what, 1/3 life or something?
Off screen bullshit galore, but that's most beat em' ups, even today. Even Fight'N Rage is guilty.
Also, I hate how bosses can whip their super out of nowhere. I have no idea when they can do it, it's super fast, then when it connects you're stuck until it's over. It's garbage.
It's interesting playing something with such old school design philosophy because you can compare it with something newer like Streets of Rage 4 or Fight'N Rage and see how much more polished things are. Things like visual indicators for armor/invincibility, hitboxes that make sense, no offscreen nonsense in SOR4, much better pacing, just more consistent mechanics in general.
Also seems too long of a playthrough but again, I suck at it.
