Sound it Out! I play Moonlight Over The Ocean by Marianna Foster
Sound it Out is a creative experiment where I spontaneously use a tune to describe a piece of visual art. The subject for Sound it Out today is Moonlight Over The Ocean by Marianna Foster.
This painting was a request by my husband's mom, Sheila, for their big 40th anniversary 2 weekends ago. Sheila is an artist herself and I can always see that she has a strong connection to beauty. How she picked this painting is no exception. This painting expresses so well in its structure, color tone, and the two figures' postures about love, and the kind of love that you feel so content to sit on the beach with and come home to at the end of the day. That day after day, you still feel this bubbly joy to have this person's companionship.
I used a gentle rolling chord gesture that appear in "waves" to represent the sound of the ocean waves at night, and then I painted a content, loving, quietly joyful and very subtly bubbly melody to describe the love, plus a few touches of the twinkling stars...
