Soundproofing my gaming treadmill
My neighbor that lives below complained that my treadmill is making too much noise! I had to buy all sorts of anti-noise foam, hard rubber and wooden decks to place on the floor and under the treadmill to enhance its soundproofing capabilities. I also oiled the bearings to reduce the noise they make, but ultimately it's the vibrations and the shaking that did most of the noise. Having a treadmill with a neighbor that lives in the apartment below is a problem. It's best to run on a treadmill when you're living without neighbors. Even steppers can be noisy! Placing the treadmill closing the walls or the corners helps to reduce the noise it creates.
UPDATE: As of May 7th 2020 no complaints from the neighbor (despite the fact she's probably home all day due to the worldwide shelter-in-place). It seems the little soundproof box for the treadmill that I did did the job. If she would complain again I would be forced to elevate it further, making enclose it entirely in a anti-noise soundproofing structure, and indeed put additional soundproofing materials
